Authorize Tweet My PC to use your account - does not work :(

Jun 13, 2014 at 9:36 AM
Hello
i have the same problem like other user request. When i want to Authorize Tweet My PC to use my Twitter, after i enter the PIN and press OK i become the message:
"Oh, a bad and unexpected error occurred..
The application will close itself now, so you don't have to worry about it....."

I tested many things and i worked out it's not a problem of my PC:

I uninstalled and re-installed tweetmypc. I still get the error when applying the twitter auth code.
Could it be because I am behind a router? Do I need to open a port to allow the tweets to come in?

I tried putting nothing in the authcode and I get no error message, but test tweet fails, so I guess that isn't the answer.

If this is a problem with the program, I would gladly PAY to get it solved.

I guess the author has given up and isn’t even interested in the money. Too bad such a great idea isn’t being fixed. This would be a great REAL use for Twitter.

during the last 5 years, people donated a total of about 4€. This is an open source and free project. We developers have lots of other stuff to do. Feel free to submit a patch to fix the issue. If you are a good developer, join the project!

Although I do understand VB and Windows Forms, I don't have much time to devote to a project. But I will download the code and look at it (as time permits). And if you'll post a note or a link to PayPal in the forum as to how we can donate to the project, I will do so (and I will beat the cheapskates who only donated those 4 Euros). I understand the concept of freeware, but I also understand that developers have to eat. Maybe my PayPal donation will help you move TWPC up a notch on your priority list.

just for your information:
I am a full time business analyst. I don't care about a few extra Euros, instead I just don't have the free time and don't like Twitter any more because they change their API every few months.

The project is under source control. Should I let VS bind to it or maintain it separately? I don’t want to become a regular member of the project.

You can either download the source code as zip file, or use Subversion. I don't know about how to use the Visual Studio Integration features for read-only access and creating patch-files.
Most likely twitter canged their oAuth or API. The Twitter-library we are using for TweetMyPC is not maintained any more - so you have to find a new twitter library and replace the old one and a bunch of code.

Sorry to hear this project isn't working out. Does anyone know any good alternatives?
